Today on The Mentor Files, we have the founder of Bombas, David Heath. David and his co-founders set out to rethink a product that was an afterthought in the marketplace. Two years of research & development led to seven material improvements to the design, performance and comfort of the everyday sock. And they continue to innovate with each successive production run.
But there's more to this story. When David first learned that socks were the most requested clothing item in homeless shelters, he knew he had to do something to help. When David started Bombas, he decided to donate a pair of socks for every pair sold. Fast forward to today, they have continued that model of giving with their clothing line as well.
From such humble beginnings DJing for friend's parties in high school and selling knives door to door, David has placed himself among the top entrepreneurs in the DTC space. Since they started in 2013, his team at Bombas has made a huge impact in helping the homeless and created an amazing product along the way. Learn how David Heath and his team innovated on a clothing staple and how he built his team at Bombas.
'You should never lose the humility that it can all turn around in a moment.' - David Heath
'What felt like a movement at the time, where businesses were moving to social causes and giving back, I wondered if I could solve the lack of socks for the homeless in my community by creating a company that donates socks for every pair we sell.' - David Heath
