It’s a bit early to craft gingerbread houses and watch Santa movies if you’re celebrating Christmas with an infant, but there are plenty of other age-appropriate ways to show your little what it means to be merry and bright. In between the smooches, cuddles, travel, and long naps (a mom can wish) this holiday break, try a few of these easy Christmas activities for infants.
Fill an empty water bottle with sequins, jingle bells, candy cane, ribbon (or any other frilly extras you have around the house) and hot glue or tape the cap back on before giving it to your little one to oooh and aaah over.
Cue up classic Christmas songs or a kids’ Christmas playlist on Spotify and sing to your kid,–add in goofy faces, hand motions, and willing relatives for extra smiles.
Whether it’s at the zoo, in your downtown, or just around the block, your baby will love donning a comfy baby sweater and strolling past Christmas lights from their cozy carrier.
'Tis the year to start new traditions—pick a favorite book (an old standby: How the Grinch Stole Christmas) to read in bed on Christmas Eve. Dim the lights or add a few candles (far away from curious little hands) for extra ambiance.
Baby on the solid food train? Try pureeing a quick blend of some of your favorite holiday comfort foods, like sweet potatoes, chicken, and green beans for a special Christmas dinner.
Keep your little kid entertained during cookie baking by pulling out the sprinkle containers—as long as the lid’s on tight, baby will love to shake and roll the colorful containers while you bake away.
Once the Christmas gifts have been opened, save some of that tissue and wrapping paper for a supervised touch, tear and scrunch session.
Putting on some festive matching family pajamas on Christmas Eve is a fun way to get in the spirit early. Plus, it’s something the whole family can enjoy together!
